I use a flat plastic small pancake flipper or any wide flat plastic just work around the edges while pushing the plastic towards you ,take your time, down by the ash tray it can stick a little just wiggle it an it will pop out, then to replace work from the ash tray up

I used one of those metal paint can openers you get from home depot w/ the little hook. There are two spots on the top corners, 2 spots in the middle and 2 on the bottom corners.

I simply grab the area inside the left vent with my fingers and slowly pull outwards then move to the right vent and do the same and POP, it comes free and the lower portion follows suite by simply moving down and pulled out. I've removed it several times doing this using no tools and never a break. (fingers crossed)

I just open the ashtray, grab hold of the bottom and with firm pressure (don't jerk on it) pull it towards me. It's gonna come out hard if it's the first time but just apply even pressure when you pull out from the bottom.

After the first set of clips release, move your hands up the sides and again, apply firm even pressure.

It'll come. No need to pry it out with a trim stick or flat bladed tool of some sort.
