Default radio wont turn on!!

hey fellas,

i have a 2006 base w/ no fog lights. so this morning, i came outside to go to work and turned on my car and tried to turn on my radio/screen but it is totally dead! i also noticed that the red idle light on my screen wasn't on. the light for my amp control was off also. so i opened my trunk and checked the fuse for my radio (cavity #36, fuse 20 amp yellow) and it was blown. i then opened my hood and fuse box and took the 20 amp yellow fuse from cavity 7 (fog lights) and put it in cavity #36. i turned my car on and the radio still wont turn on and didnt blow either. my fuse for the amp is still intact also. i really dont know whats wrong. any help is appreciated!!

is it an aftermarket deck or stock? if aftermarket then possibly check the fuse on the back of the unit itself.

And also I would pull the HU out if it is aftermarket and check the wiring. It sounds like something shorted to make the fuse blow.
Worst case the HU died and while it was in it's last throws of life blew the fuse on the way out.

Look in your manual and see if there is a way to "hard reset" the unit. Or even any reset. Try that. If that doesn't work and you have a multimeter or a test light I would check to see if your getting power to the HU on the power wires. Also check the radio ground wire.
Did you look at the wiring? Everything look ok? Check the car radio fuse, cavity #36, fuse 20 amp yellow, again to make sure it didn't blow again. If it did then you have a short in the power wires somewhere.

Man ain't that the truth when it comes to an electrical problem. Once you fix one thing, something else is messed up. Good luck, and like suggested, the best thing to do is take your multimeter and get to testing. Hope you find the problem. If it was a hard radio reset, you might try and see if the sub volume on the HU got turned down or even off, that may be why your not gettin any sound, even though the amp is on.
